One of the duties of project
management in my company is to provide a monthly forecast of expected
expenditures as each project matures. Forecast is so much nicer a term
than well-educated guess.
Simply put, (from Wikipedia): "Forecasting is the process of
making statements about events whose actual outcomes (typically) have not yet
been observed." Couldn't have said it better myself!
Here in the Pacific
Northwest, meteorologists
are celebrities. We enjoy an overall mild climate, but we still like to
think we know what to expect from our often grey skies. It's not enough to look
outside a window!
The Canadian band, The
Guess Who, would never have reached such popularity if they had called
themselves "The Forecast Who." I'm convinced.
So what kind of day will we have today? I forecast a good one!
